Gelvandale girl picked for Oprah’s academy
A PORT Elizabeth schoolgirl is over the moon after being selected for admission to the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls in Gauteng. Kelly-Anne Rossouw, 12, of Gelvandale, a Grade 6 pupil at Alpha Primary School, has been accepted by the academy as a Grade 7 pupil in January.

Safety and Transport MEC Ghishma Barry and Social Development MEC Nonkosi Mvana began a joint programme yesterday aimed at taking young children off the streets and placing them in care centres where they will be provided with educational programmes and protection.
